| CHOOSING A HOTEL ROOM: Before arriving in the next town. Try to have some idea of where you are going to stay and where things are in the town ( The South America Handbook usually has a little map). I never went with anyone who was handing out pamphlets or saying come and stay with their family..Its always best to have some idea where you are going when you walk out of a bus or train station. Your room or hotel is best centrally located near whatever it is you plan to do there, beach, museum etc..If someone you met along the way stayed at a place and recommend it. Ask if it was clean if the food was good. Did anyone get sick or were missing anything in their rooms. WRITE THE NAME IN YOUR BOOK! If you don’t have a recommendation your best bet maybe in the guide book.. When in doubt spend a few extra bucks. Its better than having something taking from your room or getting sick on breakfast. Especially if its only for one or two nights. The more confidence you have in your room the more you can leave behind while you are out.. Your Passport and money should be in some kind of a belt with the zipper locked (hidden under your shirt ). When possible leave it hidden in the room. Only take the money you need! Especially if you are walking around at night! Happy Trails!!!!!!!!! |
