Default Getting to Machu Picchu

I am flying into Lima this December for a 10 trip to Peru. I would really love to make it to Machu Picchu for a couple of days if at all possible. Does anyone have suggestions for the best way to get from Lima to Machu Picchu? train? bus? plane?

Thank you for any help you can provide!

Katie

Default Machu Picchu

Hi Katie,

The quickest way to travel from Lima to Cuzco is by taking a flight. There are many travel agencies in Lima but as you are on a tight time schedule you may consider booking the flight before arriving in Lima.

From Cuzco you can visit Machu Picchu by train or by hiking the Inca Trail. You should try to get your Machu Picchu trip booked as soon as possible as only 500 permits per day are issued.

Best wishes,

Mark

You can book tours that include both the Inca Trail as well as Machu Piccu..but I agree with Mark, best to book in advance.

well you can get to cusco by plane or bus, but I think that lima is very far from cusco so I think the best options it's what my brother (he went to peru last year) did, he went from lima to Pisco, then, Arequipa, then puno and then cusco. he travel by bus and he go to all that cities that I really like when I saw the photos, he went by his own with his friends but to cusco they take a machu picchu tour because of the popular of that place it is a little difficult to find tours or that the same day.
well good luck.

Machu Picchu is a unique travel experience destination. The mystical solemnity of its imposing stone walls, and the unfathomable mysteries enclosed therein inspire a deep respect for the builders of this monumental construction, who were able to harmonize their creation with nature's whimsicality and wildness.
