Default Chile - Ecuador - Amazon - Cheap South American flights

Hello, my name is Ioana, and im about to head to Cuba and South America. I ofcourse have a few questions, as some people have mentioned its hard to get good to the point answers in the huge info on the web. I have heaps of questions but my most important ones are; What is the best way (cheapest and safest) to get from chile to ecuador (All the websited i ahve looked up are extremely experience around March 2010) AND is it a good idea to do see the Amazon from Ecuador? And if not, where is the best place in South America for the amazon, value for money and total experience... I have a friend up in Manta ecuador and was wanting to find my way in from there, but willing to change routes and go when im in brazil aswell... Is there mch to do in Ecuador? Thank you from the bottom of my heart. rreally looking forward to any help...

Ioana

Hi Ioana,

I stayed 3 months in Ecuador so yes, there is a lot to do and see in Ecuador. It's a very beautiful country with lovely people. Check out the Ecuador section on Travel Amazing South America. You'll find lots of wonderful travel opportunities.

Concerning the Amazon, if you'd like to sail on the Amazon river then Peru and Brazil are the places to be. If it's to see wildlife then Rurrenabaque in Bolivia and the Pantanal in Brazil are both highly recommended.

Traveling overland by bus from Ecuador to Chile is not expensive but you'll spend many days on buses. Maybe a plain ticket isn't that bad if you're short on time and want to cover a lot of ground.
