Galapagos Islands - Do it yourself

The Galapagos Islands are amazing. Having been isolated from the mainland for centuries endemic creatures nowhere else found in the world started to evolve. Wonderful animals such as the Giant Tortoise are there to watch and enjoy.

The bad news: it's very expensive to go to the Galapagos Islands
The good news: you can do it on your own and save lots

I spent two weeks on the islands, a one week tour on a yacht exploring the Galapagos Islands included. This is how you do it:

• book a flight to the Galapagos Islands from Guayaquil
• shop for a boat on the main island Puerto Ayora
• don't pay more than US$50/day
• have the time of your life!

If you have time on your hands while traveling in Ecuador than you can definitely go to the Galapagos Islands on your own. If you are short on time than booking a tour at home or in Quito is your best bet.
