Long-distance transport disrupted The smog that arrived in Buenos Aires one week ago is disrupting long-distance coach travel in Argentina. The coast guard closed Buenos Aires ports and three terminals north of the city as a precaution. Ezeiza, the international airport is unaffected.
Squads of firefighters and water-bombing planes have battled grassland fires that smothered Buenos Aires in a thick blanket of smoke. The Argentine Government blamed irresponsible cattle farmers using blazes to clear pastures north of the capital. Around 270 square miles (700 square kilometers) was burning.
